Deacon Bryan Hilts most recently served as regional director of Catholic Charities in Wausau. Many may also recognize Deacon Bryan from his work with the Wausau Police Department

for nearly two decades and from his instrumental role in establishing and managing the Wausau Warming Center. He brings an extensive background in both for-profit and non-profit business management and marketing. Deacon Bryan lives on a small farm just south of Marathon with his wife Michelle. He has two adult daughters. He continues to serve as a deacon at St. Mary’s Parish in Marathon.

Sr. Jolynn Brehm, FSPA

Spiritual Leader

Jolynn Brehm, FSPA,  is a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration. Her background includes elementary and secondary educator, pastoral associate, co-founder and director of the Marywood Spirituality Center in Arbor Vitae.

She has been a retreat director and spiritual director since 1989 and began offering preached retreats in 2005 at retreat centers and for communities of Sisters throughout the Midwest. She joined St. Anthony Spirituality Center as spiritual leader in July 2015. Her special interests include delving into Scripture, all things Franciscan, and exploring the connections of nature and creation with our lives.

Front Office Coordinator

Susie Hubbard, Front Office Coordinator, has a diversified background, having worked for Catholic Charities for 20+ years and then as an Office and Account Manager in private industry for several years.

Her education includes a degree in Accounting from NTC in Wausau. Susie loves gardening and serves on the Finance Committee at Holy Rosary, her home parish in Medford.

Cheryl Mathis, OFS

Communications Coordinator

Cheryl Mathis, OFS, Communications Coordinator, studied communications at UWSP and worked in the marketing department of a publishing company for several years in various capacities.

Before coming to St. Anthony’s, she was a freelance graphic designer for many years in the Wausau area, including work with parish bulletins, newsletters and websites. She made her permanent profession as a Secular Franciscan in the spring of 2015. A Catholic convert from a Pentecostal upbringing, Cheryl joyfully serves her parish as a liturgical minister and cantor, also volunteering locally with her family and her fraternity. She lives in Wausau with her husband and two children, who are all frequent visitors at St. Anthony’s. “I’m learning every day never to try to put God in a box, because he’s always at work in the people who come through our doors. I’m just along for the ride!”

common sense as well as an open-minded, cost-minded attitude that helps him bargain for the best deals for St. Anthony’s. Working with volunteers is invigorating for Aaron, because he feels that volunteers have a passion for the work, and that makes the job fun. He loves the responsibility of maintaining such a large facility. “I feel that I have more responsibility to the donor to use their money efficiently rather than to the Board as an employee.”

Housekeeping Supervisor

Jain Skaar, is our full-time housekeeping supervisor since 2008. Her background has brought her from administrative assistant, to a stay-at-home mom with her own family daycare and back to an office setting again.

She loves her work here at St. Anthony’s because it is meditative. “My favorite spot is the fireplace lounge balcony where I meditate each morning and the chapel loft which I adopted in memory of my son.”
