Basket Weaving Retreat
April 28-30, 2017
Basket weaving is one of the oldest crafts known – but it is so much more than a craft! It is a wonderful way to connect the ordinary with the sacred as you notice the parallels with weaving and our life’s journey.
This retreat is an opportunity to learn more about yourself and experience God in a profound way. You will also have a beautiful basket, woven by you, to remind you of this step on your faith journey.
The act of weaving creates a space to share our stories and realize that we are connected, woven together in many different ways.
This retreat begins with Friday evening check-in beginning at 5:00 and supper at 6:30 p.m. The program conclude with the noon meal on Sunday. Cost includes overnight accommodations, delicious buffet meals, and program fees.
Presented by Kaila Russell.
Kaila has been weaving baskets and weaving stories for the past 21 years.
After searching for a way to share her life stories and faith journey, she took a basket weaving class for teachers. Her life has never been the same. Weaving a basket is a perfect tool to connect an ordinary vessel with a powerful story…your story!
Kaila loves to share this gift with anyone who is willing to give it a try. She is contracted by several school districts to weave in the classroom, connecting this craft with academic lessons. Many churches incorporate this weaving into their programs, retreats, and even a Sunday morning sermon. This is a perfect activity for birthday parties, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, mom’s groups, men’s groups…pretty much anyone!
