Spring has arrived! A time of year when we are greeted daily with the differing songs from the variety of birds in our yard. We can anticipate the budding on the tree branches, the crocus beginning to poke out of the ground, all while we inhale the smell of rain and observe the awakening life as the sunshine and breezes surround us.

And this is only one of the four seasons we experience every year, each with its unique beauty and delights.

The Creator God, who has filled the earth and the heavens with ongoing wonders undoubtedly loves colors, varieties, differences, and surprises.

Yes, we are truly blessed to live in a world filled with such an abundance of beauty and uniqueness. Blessed to encounter so many people each exhibiting different personalities, outlooks, and backgrounds.

I am grateful that our Creator God is so generous in sharing the many expressions of life and love with us. Obviously, God delights in differences, otherwise, why create so much of it?

Maybe differences inadequately depict God’s vast creation, since we tend to place that which is different into categories such as good or bad, better or worse, or some other unequal pairing. I prefer using the word diverse or diversity since all of creation reveals God’s love and life in making all of God’s creation, including us humans. We are all equally precious and loved by the Creator.

Maybe this is God’s gentle way of reminding us that diversity among and between us is a gift to be welcomed, included, and loved equally.
