Our world has been and continues to be made increasingly beautiful through the work of creative people such as artists, crafters, musicians, and writers, to name a few. I thank you for sharing your talents which nourish our spirits.
But what about those of us who are, shall we say, creatively challenged? How can we bring beauty into our world? True, we all have different gifts and creativity can take many forms which may result in some of us creating in unconventional ways, ways that may not be carved, drawn, written, or sung but can create beauty nonetheless.
Something that can be created by those of us who are creatively challenged is space, yes space. True, this creation is never going to win an award or be featured in the media or hung in a gallery but can bring meaning, appreciation, and recognition to the person who fills that space we created for them.
What I am talking about are the conversations with those we encounter. During our time together am I willing to skip or at least limit my own egocentric, self-obsessed monologue to create a space in the conversation for the other(s) to share their experiences, ideas, feelings, and insights?
Like any skill or talent, creating space for the other takes practice to develop but the rewards are endless in the form of developing new or deeper friendships with all that means for both the friend and ourselves.
I, for one am in need of practicing this skill in order to create space for another to display their unique self. This is a creation that will continue to add beauty to our world. You are all invited to join in, even those of you who are not creatively challenged as we, individually and collectively, to speak less and listen more so as to create additional space for the other to shine.
Welcome aboard!

You nailed it Terri! Thank you friend.
Wow. Great idea. “An empty can makes the most noise.” Subdue the me. Space for thinking is a great idea. The other side of the “selfish coin”. Just think of the value in the world of today?
Thank you Terri for a great reminder of what we all can do – create space for one another!
Terri, such wise words that hit close to my heart! Remembering to listen rather than speak is truly a creative gift! Thanks for the insight and encouragement!
Love your article with its extension of the meaning of creativity. We all are creative in many ways of
being loving and kind to one another. Is amazing how God’s goodness does radiate when we do.
Perfect
What a beautiful way of being created.
Thank you for the reflection and being you. This will be my next creative practice!!
