Recently a friend sent me a prayer composed by Sr. Mary Ann Barrett, OP, a Grand Rapids Dominican. It is a prayer that she received from her friend and that she was sharing with me. A gift it has truly proven to be which I would like to share with you. You can read the prayer at this link.
This prayer speaks to each of us as we pray for those we love who are in need, are hurting, are ill, or estranged and there is nothing we can do to help, fix, or change the person or situation. We are powerless!
I find it helpful to pray with my hands open and palms up. This allows me to experience both the release of my loved one and the acceptance of what is.
May this prayer be as much of a gift to you as it has been to me.

Beautiful thoughts, Terri! Thank you for sharing the wonderful, meaningful prayer! It’s hard to “let go and let God!” Great reminder!
